Mold Analysis for Everyone
What is mold and why should I be concerned?
Molds are microscopic fungi found all over the earth. Many have the ability to thrive in the indoor environment as well, provided the proper conditions are present. Since many molds need high levels of moisture to live, their presence indoors signifies a moisture problem. In this way molds can be an indicator of an unseen leak or other damaging water intrusion. Although the majority of indoor molds are not harmful, some can be quite dangerous to live with. Molds may cause allergic reactions and many make harmful toxins.
Why is it important to know which mold I have?
The majority of indoor mold problems are relatively harmless and can be addressed by the homeowner. Our reports save you money and headaches by screening for harmless molds before you commit to a more costly mold inspection. By knowing what species you have in your home you can make an informed decision about what to do about it. Our detailed reports explain in simple language the risk a particular mold represents to both your health and your home's.
How does your service work?
Our MouldWorks@Home service is incredibly easy to use. Just follow these steps:
- Request a Mold Screening Kit: Our mold screening kit costs $45.00 and comes with 1 tapelift (+ 1 backup). That price includes the analysis and report for that tapelift.
- Using the kit you receive in the mail, take the samples (see the instructions below) and return them to us.
- Once we receive your sample our mycologists will analyze it for mold and write your report immediately. In most cases we send out your results via email within 7 days or less. Some molds will need to be cultured in our lab for 5 days for identification (an additional service we provide free of charge).
In serious cases we will recommend mold inspectors in your area that we have worked with and trust. These certified inspectors are highly trained and have proven to us they are both competent and honest. We will pass along your results to them, so they know what to look for.
